Think Win/Win. Sometimes that is a difficult concept for me. Many times in the day I have to stop myself from thinking negatively. That goes right along with Think Win/Win. You've got to keep a positive outlook, and know what the goals are you are trying to achieve.
"Win/Win is a belief in the Third Alternative. It's not your way or my way; it's a better way, a higher way."
I like the concept of Win/Win or No Deal. With this mindset, you are bound to succeed because you don't see failure as an option. "With No Deal as an option, you can honestly say, 'I only want to go for Win/Win. I want to win, and I want you to win.' "
I can view a personal experience in my life as a Win/Win situation. When I first set my mind to losing weight, I knew that it was a No Deal situation. I knew that I had to lose weight for my health, and to be honest, for my own vanity. Determination and drive pushed me through the plateaus and hard times, but it was the mindset of Win/Win that has helped me lose 66 pounds.
I can take that example and apply it to the rest of the areas in my life. If I tell myself that there is a No Deal on doing homework, or finishing certain projects, I should be able to get them completed. Instead of procrastinating until the last minute, I can tell myself there is a No Deal on doing these assignments now instead of later.

Habit #3- Put First Things First
I try to be a time manager. I buy my planner at the beginning of the school year, and attempt to keep things in order, but as the days, and weeks progress, more and more things don't make it onto the calendar. I'll put some things on my ical, but others will be on an actual paper calendar.
Majority of the time I focus my energy on Quadrant IV, Not Important or Urgent. I let things slowly slide into Quadrant I, Urgent, until I'm panicking and don't have a clue what to do first. By gaging my time and making plans to do things, I believe I could get things done in a timely manner.
Learning to say no is a HUGE thing for me to conquer. I'm always saying yes to things, even when deep down I'd love to say no. Sometimes I get sucked into being polite or nice, that I don't take the time to ask myself if I really have the extra time to give away. Covey says it a great way. "But you have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage- pleasantly, smilingly, nonapologetically-to say "no" to other things... Keep in mind you are always saying "no" to something."
Learning to say no could make a huge difference in the amount of time I spend in certain areas of my life.

Habit #1-Be Proactive
Being proactive..something I am not good at at all. I'm very much a procrastinator. But Covey explains that we can re-wire our thinking and become people of proactivity. I like when he says, " It means that as human beings, we are responsible for our own lives. Our behavior is a function of our decisions, not our conditions." No matter the circumstances, it is my decision to make things happen. I can relate to being a reactive person. When I feel good about the day, things seem more positive, but when people around me are negative, or the day is dreary, I would prefer to not doing anything productive, and waste the day away.
What can I learn from this?
I learn that, as the book states, I need to make goals and achieve them.
